The general consensus is that winters in Minnesota are 'really freaking cold.' So, in some more built-up areas, we connect the buildings with pedestrian bridges on the second floor so people don't have to go outside to cross the street. Here's one on the campus of the University of Minnesota that I used a lot while taking a photography class that was really far from all my other classes.
